The Mid Autumn Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month in the Chinese lunar calendar.
This year the holiday lasts from 19th September till 21st September. The festival is also called the Moon Festival as the moon is normally at it’s roundest and brightest.
It originates from the time the ancient Chinese celebrated the harvest and gave their thanks to the moon by offering a sacrifice.Read More

You may have seen in the news the report of a fire at a recycling plant near Birmingham. Initial reports suggest that a flying Chinese Lantern which was still burning could have been the cause. It is our understanding that the UK Government has no plans to ban the use of Chinese Lanterns which comply with their construction and quality guidelines. The guidelines state that the lantern should contain no metal, it should be made from flame retardant paper and should include a fully assembled non-drip high quality fuel cell.Read More

2013 could have been a worrying year for the UK firework industry.
On November 6th 2012 the government decided to bring forward and enforce that all suppliers of fireworks must have all their product manufactured to the new CE standard. The original date planned for the change of regulations was set to be 2017. By pushing the date forward you can appreciate the concern of the UK firework suppliers as to the situation of their existing stock.Read More

When you work in an industry it can be difficult at times to see the benefits.
Those involved in the firework industry know how intense it can be at the mains sales periods and it can seem at times that you are just moving one heavy box from one place to another. Most of the firework boxes weigh around 15 kilo and some can weigh 25 kilo. when they are packed in to their shipping containers in China they are not put on pallets and hence when they arrive in the UK they all have to be unloaded individually by hand.Read More

As part of our on-going quality controil we frequently test fireworks to ensure that the quality control has been maintained by the manufacturer. The fireworks will have been tested in China prior to shipment to the UK but we find it does no harm at all to check that the products perform as we expect them to.Read More
